Our Directors
Kirk Grizzle
Artistic Director
Kirk Grizzle was at South Forsyth High School from 2004 - 2018. He has taught musical theatre, chorus, guitar, tech theatre and dramatic arts. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Georgia College and State University and a Master of Arts Degree from Piedmont College.
As a choral director, his choirs consistantly receive Superior ratings at GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluations. His choirs have also performed twice at the GMEA In-Service Conference in Savannah, GA. Under Mr. Grizzle's direction, choirs have won the Heritage Music Festivals in New York and Orlando as well as Music in the Parks and Southern Star Music Festivals in Atlanta. He has had the honor of being the guest director for several GMEA regional honors choirs in Districts 9 and 13. Mr. Grizzle has coached many GHSA Literary state champion quartets, trios and soloists.
As a theatre director, his shows have placed as high as 2nd at regional One-Act play contests. He has directed many shows including Godspell, Pippin, Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, Oliver, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Into the Woods, 13, High School Musical, Check Please, Guys and Dolls, Anything Goes, The Music Man, Sweeney Todd, Shrek the Musical, Les Miserables, Ghost the Musical, Leap of Faith &The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He has earned numerous Shuler nominations and won two Shuler awards in 2016.
Most recently, his the Denmark HS production of The Theory of Relativity won the State competition at One Act, received the award for Best Leading Actress in the State and 7 Shuler Nominations and 3 Honorable mentions. His previous production of Bonnie & Clyde received 8 Shuler nominations and 3 honorable mentions. DHSPA won for Leading Actress, Leading Actor, and Scenic Design. While at SFHS The Hunchback of Notre Dame received 9 Shuler nominations at the 2018 Georgia High School Musical Theatre awards. Mr. Grizzle won the Shuler for Musical Direction and Direction.
Chloe Roney
Assistant director of Chorus and Theatre
Chloe Roney attended Kennesaw State University where she received her bachelor's in music education in 2022. She repeatedly performed with Kennesaw State's top choir and was invited to perform with them at ACDA. During her time at Kennesaw State University, she gained experience teaching all levels of choir and musical theatre. Choirs under her direction have received superior ratings at GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation.
She has also directed award winning musicals and received the 2023 Shuler award for best music direction.
